Conference on Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency

The aim of the conference is to solve the problems of scientific, technical and technological support of renewable energy to promote the effective development of energy from renewable sources, as well as to increase additional volumes of heat and electricity through the implementation of measures for energy conservation and energy efficiency in society.

The conference was organized by the Institute of Renewable Energy, the Small Academy of Sciences, the Representative Office of the American Academy of Sciences in California, the California University of Technology, the Public Union “Energy Association”, the Interindustry Scientific and Technical Center for Wind Energy, the UNESCO Chair “Higher technical education, applied system analysis and computer science.

About

In California, renewable energy development is one of the top priorities of the “economy of the future. The state leadership actively supports and develops projects based on renewable energy sources. By 2030, the Government plans to increase the share of alternative energy sources to 30%. In turn, the U.S. government has developed a strategy to introduce 25 percent renewable energy by 2035, up from 1 percent today. After a period of investment in mostly small wind and solar projects, a number of large-scale renewable energy projects are now in operation in the U.S. By 2030, it is planned to build wind farms with a total capacity of up to 200 MW in California, the required investments will amount to about $200-300 million. The conference adopted a resolution, in which the participants named priority measures for the development of renewable energy and providing the population with environmentally clean energy. Among them are scientific substantiation of key directions of fundamental and applied research, research and design and engineering developments in the field of renewable energy in order to find optimal location of energy capacities taking into account possibilities of dispersed generation and combination of renewable energy sources of different nature; development of innovative hydrogen production methods and application of hydrogen technologies in energy and other sectors; use of energy efficient technologies
